Our story and our mission
Discover the heart behind Potteries Helping Hands Dementia CIC. Learn about our journey, our commitment to those affected by dementia, and the unique insights that drive our work.

Our inspiring beginnings
Potteries Helping Hands Dementia CIC was established in June 2023. Our group was formed from a deeply personal place, as all of our members are directly affected by dementia. This lived experience is our driving force, inspiring us to provide peer support and develop innovative initiatives for those living with dementia. We are committed to proactive engagement in all areas related to dementia care and advocacy.

How we make a difference
We believe in empowering individuals and fostering a strong sense of community. Our group meets monthly at the West End Community Centre, Stoke, typically on the first Monday or Wednesday of each month. During these meetings, we offer vital peer support, allowing members to share experiences and find strength together. Crucially, members lead the way in deciding what dementia-related activities and initiatives they wish to develop. We also invite guest speakers, requested by our members, to enrich our discussions and knowledge.

Our guiding principles
At Potteries Helping Hands, our work is guided by a profound sense of care and dedication. We care deeply about people living with dementia, and our close collaboration with them ensures that our work is rooted in authentic experience. This direct engagement and the personal journeys of our members make our approach uniquely heartfelt and effective, holding a special place in our hearts.
"The dedication and personal insight of Potteries Helping Hands Dementia CIC are truly remarkable. Their firsthand experience makes all the difference."
